Biography
I graduated with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from India and completed my post-doctoral research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, AL, and later at the University of Chicago, Chicago, IL. Subsequently, I transitioned into nursing and graduated with a Master's in Nursing degree from Rush University, Chicago, IL in 2018. During the program, at Rush University, I was conferred with the Rush Gerontology Scholar Award for my work with older adults. I have worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) at the Northeast Regional Medical Center, Kirksville MO. I am also certified as a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL).
I completed my Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) (Family Nurse Practitioner track) from the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO in 2023. I was nominated as one of the three DNP students for the 2023 Sinclair School of Nursing and Nursing Alumni
Organization’s DNP Student Award for Overall Excellence. The Sinclair School of Nursing, University of Missouri, has awarded me the Alpha Lota President’s Scholarship Fund, Charles and Josie Smith Sinclair Perpetual Fund for spring 2021, and the George and Eva Jo Spalding Memorial Scholarship Fund for fall 2022. I am currently a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC).
I joined Temple University in the Fall of 2025. Prior to that, from Fall 2022 to summer 2025, I served as an Assistant Professor at Truman State University, Kirksville, MO. During my time at Truman, I was honored with the Spring 2024 Academic Innovation Award and was nominated for the 2025 William O’ Donnell Lee Advising Award. I am passionate about teaching and place a strong emphasis on active learning. I continually strive to explore, learn and incorporate innovative teaching strategies to enhance the learning process in the classroom.
My research interests include Adverse Childhood Experiences in pregnant patients, Trauma Informed Care, ACEs screening and TIC training for providers.
