Biography

Lisa A. Ferretti, LMSW, is an Associate Professor of Instruction and Program Director of the Master of Social Work program at Temple University’s School of Social Work in the College of Public Health. With over two decades of experience in social work education, research, and community-engaged scholarship, Ferretti has led transformative initiatives in aging, disability, health promotion, and evidence-based practice.

Professor Ferretti’s academic career spans leadership roles at Temple University and the University at Albany, where she directed multiple research labs and centers focused on chronic disease prevention, autism interventions, and aging services. She has served as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on more than 30 funded research and demonstration projects, including multi-million-dollar initiatives supported by the CDC, CMS, and the U.S. Administration on Community Living.

Ferretti’s scholarship centers on the intersection of social work, public health, and technology-enhanced care. Her recent work explores AI-informed care management for Parkinson’s Disease, barriers to autism intervention access, and loneliness among older adults. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on aging, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and health disparities.

A recipient of multiple honors—including the Temple University Faculty Senate Outstanding Faculty Service Award and the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence— Ferretti is recognized nationally for her contributions to gerontological social work and interprofessional education. She is also a leader in continuing education, developing trauma-informed care certificates and licensure preparation programs for emerging professionals.

Ferretti holds a Master of Social Work with a specialization in Gerontology and a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the State University of New York at Albany.
