Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity

Develop the skills and foundational knowledge in the growing field of computer science with the Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity from Temple University’s College of Science and Technology. Cybersecurity professionals have the expertise to implement security measures that protect an organization’s computer networks and systems from unauthorized access, theft or damage. In this 124-credit program, you’ll gain a strong technical foundation in computing intended to develop skills in computer networks, databases and software development, and to cultivate an analytical mindset. 

Program Outcomes

Students who complete the Cybersecurity undergraduate degree program will be able to

  • assess a system to identify potential threats;
  • develop strategies intended to safeguard a system from recognized risks;
  • design a system intended to safeguard personal privacy and
  • evaluate a program for potential security vulnerabilities.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that the employment of cybersecurity professionals will grow 32% in the coming decade. There is a high and steadily increasing demand for skilled computing security professionals. The knowledge and skills obtained from the Cybersecurity BS program provide graduates with a clear pathway into the field of cybersecurity and similar industries.

Classes & Curriculum

This 124-credit program is offered on Temple’s Main Campus, and can be completed within eight semesters, or four academic years. 

The program’s comprehensive curriculum includes foundational, security and elective course requirements. Some of your classes may include the following. 

  • Audit and Compliance for Security and Digital Forensics 
  • Cyber-Investigations, Digital Forensics, and the Law 
  • Ethical Hacking and Intrusion Forensics 
  • Software Security

Deepen your understanding of your math, natural science or computer science coursework by experiencing firsthand how such disciplines are studied overseas. Temple’s study abroad program offers College of Science and Technology students opportunities to spend a summer or semester studying in Germany, Italy, Japan and Spain.   • The Siena Biomedical Research Program provides the opportunity for students to spend their summer working full time in a biotechnology and pathology lab based in Tuscany, Italy.
  • The Sicily Applied Biotechnology Program allows students to learn the biological basis behind the technology used for art conservation and then apply that knowledge in the laboratory and in the field.
