Facilities Planning MS

Master of Science in Facilities Planning

Advance your knowledge and expertise in managing various architectural buildings and spaces with the Master of Science in Facilities Planning in the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University. In this 30-credit graduate program, you’ll focus on architectural planning and professional practice methodologies that will prepare you for complex and collaborative working environments across the industry. The MS in Facilities Planning is designed for professionals with an academic background or professional experience in the building fields.  

The workshop-based facilities planning coursework takes place in Tyler’s Facilities Management Lab, where students experience interdisciplinary collaboration and address professional practice questions that are drawn from the field. Special topics courses are taught by professionals who share methods and innovations in architecture and design from their own practice. 

Students in the facilities planning graduate degree program develop specialized knowledge within the facilities management profession and learn to work effectively with allied professionals to understand the management of facilities from the user’s perspective.

Program Format & Curriculum  

As an MS in Facilities Planning student, you will participate in workshop- and seminar-based curriculum. Collaborative projects take place in Tyler’s Facilities Management Lab. A few courses you can anticipate taking include the following.

  • Form and Function in Health and Environments  
  • Health Facilities Practice and Management 
  • Project Planning and Programming

Concentrations

This degree program can be completed with or without a concentration. Your concentration options include

  • Health Facilities

    Study innovative approaches to improve employee well-being, patient care and quality of healthcare environments. Learn how to tackle complex healthcare problems in today’s rapidly evolving health industry through interdisciplinary coursework and simulations. The interdisciplinary program is designed for those with an undergraduate or professional background in facilities or healthcare management.

Tuition & Fees

In keeping with Temple’s commitment to access and affordability, this Master of Science offers a competitive level of tuition with multiple opportunities for financial support.

Tuition rates are set annually by the university and are affected by multiple factors, including program degree level (undergraduate or graduate), course load (full- or part-time), in-state or out-of-state residency, and more. These tuition costs apply to the 2025–2026 academic year.

Pennsylvania resident: $1,148.00 per credit
Out-of-state: $1,577.00 per credit
