Certificate Program in Podcasting

Learn to create and produce a podcast with the Certificate Program in Podcasting in the Lew Klein College of Media and Communication at Temple University. As more media and communication is shared via podcasting, it has become a significant forum for addressing topics with the public. This 10-credit certificate in Podcasting is a three-course program that provides the essential skills necessary for students who want to improve their impact through podcasts.

Open to all students at Temple, you’ll form expertise in content and production to deliver your own podcast or work with others in podcast production.

How will the Podcasting certificate’s classes and curriculum prepare me to create and produce podcasts?

This 10-credit undergraduate certificate comprises three courses in the departments of Communication, Journalism, and Media Studies and Production at Klein.

  • Podcasting for Civic Engagement addresses the question of how podcasting can be used to engage audiences in important conversations around social issues. This course provides students with experience in developing and distributing a podcast.

  • Podcasting and Audio Journalism educates students on the fundamentals of audio editing, interviewing, producing and hosting programs. You'll produce podcast content, meet professional podcasters and community storytellers, and get feedback on your work.

  • Principles of Podcasting focuses on the necessary sound design and technical skills needed for you to produce your own podcast episodes.

What skills will I gain after completing the Podcasting certificate?

  • Communication: You’ll produce a podcast that presents media content focused on informing, educating and entertaining the public.

  • Production: You’ll learn to design, develop, record, edit and produce an engaging and well-designed podcast.

  • Presentation: Through the courses, you’ll be able to present well-researched and well-delivered content via a podcast.
